Building Our Own Market: The Future of Independent Production & Creative Sustainability

Panel Description: In an industry where independent creatives often operate without union protection, consistent support, or secure access to funding and distribution, the road to sustainability is anything but straightforward. This panel dives into the structural gaps facing independent producers—from navigating IP ownership and complex co-productions to the fallout of major players like Netflix pulling out of emerging markets such as Africa. We’ll explore how creatives can take charge: building new paths to commissioning, developing alternative distribution pipelines, and shaping market solutions that work for us. It’s time to reimagine what an empowered and self-sustaining creative economy could look like.

Speakers: Shantelle Rochester, Founder Know Your Power | Victoria Thomas, Producer Polkadot Factory | Karl Hillbrick, Producer InFilmPact | Moses Babatope, CEO Nile Entertainment Media Group
